Early voting

Early voting in Ohio (also called In-Person Absentee voting) is available Monday to Friday from October 12 through November 7, as well as on Saturday, October 29 and Saturday–Sunday, November 5–6.

Voting By Mail

Anyone can vote by mail in Ohio, no excuse needed. The deadline to request your absentee mail ballot is November 5, but Ohio recommends you send it by November 1 at the latest to allow for delivery time.

To request an absentee ballot, you’ll need to print and mail a form, call to request a form, or write a letter:

If you return your completed ballot by mail, it must be postmarked by November 7, the day before Election Day. You can also return it in person to your County Board of Elections by 7:30 pm on Election Day, November 8.

Voting On Election Day

Polls are open 6:30 am to 7:30 pm on Tuesday, November 8. Don’t forget your photo ID! 

Registering to Vote

Update your voter registration, or register for the first time, by October 11.

I.D. requirements

To vote in Ohio, you need an accepted form of ID, which can include photo ID or other forms, like a utility bill or paystub.
